Good morning Nidus*
I received this email saying:
Nidus* is a trilingual (English, French, Arabic) quarterly
publication printed as companion and a backbone to the London-Cairo-Paris based arts-institute Habit[ance]*. We are primarily concerned with dissecting and examining para/pseudo/un/in habitance to provide a nest for the theoretical development of the institute. Nidus is calling for perfomative, academic and experiemental writing proposals for its’s maiden issue. We seek pieces revolving around the subjects of (but not limited to):
≤ H a b i t a n c e ≥ ≤ P a r a s i t e ≥ ≤ H a b i t a t i o n ≥ ≤ C o l o n y ≥ ≤ I n h a b i t a n c e ≥
≤ P e r s o n a ≥ ≤ U n i n h a b i t a n c e ≥ ≤ P a r a h a b i t a n c e ≥ ≤ S e c o n d S k i n ≥ ≤ P s e u d o h a b i t a t i o n ≥ You are encouraged to take these terms to their conceptual limts, addressing one, two or all of the words in our evolving glossary. Conglomerate, Fabricate and Deviate from their definitions in order to produce a novel and (we hope) personal discourse on the overarching concept of Habitance. Each issue will be nested within the illustrative detrius of a different artist’s visual process and will be inhabited by the words and work of a shifting set of contributors and editors. This issue will be illustrated with scraps from the den of Brooklyn artist Chris Kyung.
Proposal Deadline: November 1st through 10th (100 - 300 words) Submission Deadline: December 1st through 10th(500 - 3,000 words) Email: mailto:nidusquarterly@gmail.com"nidusquarterly@gmail.com ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ [ ] ni-dus (nds) n. pl. ni-dus-es or ni-di (-d) 1. A nest, especially one for the eggs of insects, spiders, or small animals. 2. A cavity where spores develop. 3. Pathology: a central point or focus of bacterial growth in a living organism. 4. A point or place at which something orginates, accumulates, or develops, as the center around which salts of calcium, uric acid or bile acid form calculi. [ ] Habitance acts as a platform connecting artists, designers, writers, theoreticians, scientists, and others who engage in the discourse of habitation. Habitance’s formal structure revolves around an international residency program, gallery space, conceptual design line and its official publication, Nidus.Habitance has bases in London, Paris, Bethlehem and Cairo.
